Mahatma Gandhiji
(1869 - 1948)
Mahatma gandhi was one of the great freedom fighter.
Gandhiji was born on 2nd October in 1869 in Porbandar.
Gandhiji Full name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
His Father's name was Karamchand Uttamchand Gandhi was diwan of Porbandar and Mother's name was Putlibai Gandhi.
Gandhiji was married at the age of 15, he's wife name was Kasturba.
He went to London to study Law/Advocacy.He remained away from meat and fish.
He faught against colour discrimination in South Africa from 1893 to 1914.
In India we fondly called him "Bapu" and "Gandhiji".The title "Mahatma" was given to him in South Africa in 1914.
Gandhiji returned to India in 1915 and joined National India Congress party.
Gandhiji started his first movement against British rule was Champaran Satyagrah in 1917 and Kheda Satyagrah,Non- Corporation Movement,Salt Satyagrah was one of mainly ran by Gandhji.
Gandhji's simple living and high thinking and policy of non violence made him an instant hit among the indian people.
On 30th January 1948, Gandhiji took his last breath and his last words was "Hey Ram".

MAKARSANKRANTI ESSAY

Makarsankrati is a Hindu festival.
It is celebrated on 14th January every year.
Farmers harvest on this day.
On this day people fly a kites.
People make delicacies like till(sesame)and gud(jaggery) laddoos , gajak, khichdi etc.

Makasankrati comes every year on 14th and 15th January Hindus celebrates this festival.
The Sun shift from sagittarius sign to capricorn sign.
Makarsankrati is known as Harvest festival also.After months of hardwork farmer harvest on this day.
In INDIA it is celebrated and named differently like
Punjab - Lohri
Gujarat - Uttarayan
Assam - Bihu
Tamil Nadu- Pongal
Maharashtra - Makar Sankrati
Children enjoy this day by flying colourful kites and eating till(sesame) gud (Jaggery)Laddoos.
On this people goes to holy rivers and take dip or bath at Triveni Sangam where three holy rivers met (Ganga,Yamuna,Sarswati),
After every 12 years Kumbh mela organised on Makarsanktranti.People worship god Sun.
In anciant text it is said that donating wheat and till gud / sweet to a needful brings prosperity.
People do some various activities like dancing, making delicacies like gajak,chikki,laddus,decorate their houses with flower and making rangoli.
From "Makarsankrati" day gets longer and spring season comes.
In this way,people celebrates Makarsankranti with different ideologies and culture.
